Baseball Game Preview: Louisville Leopards vs. Dover Crimson Tornadoes

The Louisville Leopards are taking a road trip to square off against the Dover Crimson Tornadoes at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Louisville turned things around against Ursuline on Wednesday. They skirted past the Fighting Irish 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Leopards have posted since April 12th.

Brock Leghart looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Cooper Rice was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Dover had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Tigers.

Dover's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Louisville, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 8-10.

Louisville was able to grind out a solid victory over Dover in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Leopards since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
