Cottondale won the last time they faced Vernon and things went their way on Friday too. The Hornets blew past the Yellowjackets, posting a 54-6 win. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 26 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cottondale to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nick Heinemann, who threw for 114 yards and three touchdowns on only five passes. Tramond Collins made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Cottondale was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 221 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vernon only rushed for 103.

Cottondale didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Forrest Folsom, Trashonn Collins, and Tramond picked up one apiece. Tramond got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The victory made it two in a row for Cottondale and bumps their season record up to 6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points over those games. As for Vernon, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Cottondale will take on Graceville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Vernon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
