Baseball Recap: Cheshire Takes a Loss

Cheshire was the 10-0 winner over North Haven when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Rams fell just short of the Nighthawks by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cheshire got a good showing from Stephen Fitzmaurice, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Fitzmaurice has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Luke Mann was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Michael Chopak also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Cheshire's record now sits at 9-5. As for North Haven, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cheshire will welcome Lyman Hall at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Haven, they will be playing at home against Conard at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
