Volleyball Recap: Canutillo Comes Up Short

If Canutillo was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Socorro on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles fell 2-0 to the Montwood Rams on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Canutillo's offense was headlined by Bobbie Martin and Danielle Romero, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Sophia Ontiveros and her 15 assists.

Isabella Meneses was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 12 digs and two assists. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Maya Gunning also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Canutillo's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Montwood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Canutillo has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Immanuel Christian on the 22nd. As for Montwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Pebble Hills on the 22nd.
