Baseball Recap: Hampton Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Hampton came into Thursday's contest having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Blevins Hornets 10-9. The Bulldogs' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last four games.

Kypton Rowland made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Hampton is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 0-7 otherwise. Rowland was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Jayden Thomas was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Eli Chandler was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Hampton's win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Blevins, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hampton will welcome Bearden at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.25 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Blevins, they will face off against Nevada at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
