Baseball Game Preview: Tonasket Tigers vs. Asotin Panthers

The Tonasket Tigers will square off against the Asotin Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Tonasket has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Asotin will arrive with three straight wins.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Tonasket's offense. They lost 15-0 to Kittitas on Wednesday. The match marked the first time this season in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Asotin got the win against Liberty on Thursday by a conclusive 11-1. Considering the Panthers have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Asotin's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Tonasket, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Tonasket's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Tigers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game.
