Baseball Recap: Jim Thorpe Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Jim Thorpe, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against the Bangor Slaters by a score of 11-7 on Tuesday. With that victory, the Olympians brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Nikolas Schwartz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Brody Schrantz was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Lazorick, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Jim Thorpe hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Jim Thorpe's record is now 7-10. As for Bangor, their record now sits at 7-9-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jim Thorpe will welcome Northwestern Lehigh at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Olympians surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bangor, they will host Moravian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
