Softball Recap: Greenleaf Friends Academy Grizzlies vs. Notus Pirates

Greenleaf Friends Academy had lost four straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 2-11 to make it five. They came up short against the Notus Pirates, falling 20-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in March.

Greenleaf Friends Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alayna Griffee, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That hit was Griffee's first of the season.

As for Notus, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7. The game marked their most dominant win of the season.

On Notus' side, Emalee Thomas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Thomas was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since April 5th.

In other batting news, Notus got a massive performance out of Fatima Alvarez, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. With that strong performance, Alvarez is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Victoria Zamora, who went 5-for-6 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple.
