Baseball Recap: Forest Hill Comes Up Short

Forest Hill fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Wellington on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-2 to the Wellington Wolverines, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Falcons just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Kevin Valdez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (three).

On the hitting side, Yampiel Chavez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.

Forest Hill's record now sits at 7-6. As for Wellington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.

Looking ahead, Forest Hill will challenge Dwyer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dwyer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Wellington, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 10-5 victory against Spanish River on the 12th.
