Volleyball Recap: Burney Takes a Loss

Burney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Hayfork Timberjacks. If the Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Timberjacks when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-19, 25-11.

When it comes to explaining why Burney lost, don't look at Alexis Witzel. Despite the final result, she had 29 digs and four blocks. Witzel is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 18 or more in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season. Ciera Wilson was another key player, getting 21 digs and three aces.

Burney's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Hayfork, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burney will head out to take on Dunsmuir at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hayfork, they will venture away from home to challenge Tulelake at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Timberjacks' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
