Basketball Preview: McDowell Titans vs. Enka Jets
The McDowell Titans will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Enka Jets at 8:00 p.m. on February 6th. Enka took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on McDowell, who comes in off a win.
McDowell put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 86-64 margin over North Buncombe. Given McDowell's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Black Hawks are ranked 345th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
McDowell got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was David Olivo out in front who scored 29 points. Olivo is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Rylan Parkins was another key contributor, scoring 23 points.
Meanwhile, Enka came up short against the Rams on Friday and fell 56-44. Enka has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
McDowell's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.0 points per game. As for Enka, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Everything came up roses for McDowell against the Jets in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 70-40 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for McDowell since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
