Softball Recap: Fort Frye Triumphs

Fort Frye came out on top against Point Pleasant on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Cadets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Big Blacks. This was a revenge game for the Cadets: when they faced off against the Big Blacks last Monday, they had to take a 9-8 loss.

Taylor Hendershot spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaden Cox, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Jayden Brown was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Fort Frye now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Point Pleasant, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-6.

Coming up, Fort Frye will head out to take on River at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pilots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Cadets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Point Pleasant, they will challenge Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
