Basketball Game Preview: Biloxi Indians vs. Laurel Golden Tornadoes

The Biloxi Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Laurel Golden Tornadoes at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Biloxi 28, Laurel 30) so any points scored will be well earned.

Laurel will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Biloxi extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday. The Indians walked away with a 33-25 victory over Madison-Ridgeland Academy.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Laurel and West Jones meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Golden Tornadoes took their game with ease, bagging a 61-19 win over the Mustangs. Give the Golden Tornadoes' offense some serious credit: that high-scoring performance was actually the fewest points they've scored all season.

Biloxi better focus on containing Kayllis Walker and Karly Hunter as the pair were huge in Laurel's win. Walker dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Hunter went 8-for-12 en route to 18 points and six boards. What's more, Walker also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in January. Zy Evans was another key player, putting up eight points and four blocks.

Biloxi's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Laurel, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
