While Speedway has struggled at home with four straight losses , that wasn't the case on Thursday thanks to Sienna Hileman. The Sparkplugs narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Mooresville 3-2 thanks in part to Hileman, who had 23 digs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 10.6 digs per game.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Speedway who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 20-25, 25-21, 25-27, 15-7.
Indianapolis Crispus Attucks had taken Indianapolis Shortridge down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Tigers fell in a 3-2 heartbreaker to the Blue Devils. While the Tigers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Blue Devils 25-9 in the first set.
Indianapolis Crispus Attucks actually scored more points across those five sets (106-87), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 9-25, 25-22, 11-25, 25-19, 17-15.
Indianapolis Crispus Attucks has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Speedway, their victory bumped their record up to 4-14.
Speedway beat Indianapolis Crispus Attucks 3-1 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sparkplugs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
