Softball Recap: King Has No Trouble Against Frederick Gunn

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Canterbury School, King was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Frederick Gunn Highlanders as they made off with a 10-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won three games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Elizabeth Tuttle made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Hathaway Liparidis was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emma Drexel, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

King kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

King now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Frederick Gunn, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, King will square off against Hamden Hall Country Day at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Frederick Gunn, they will face off against Canterbury School at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
