It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Belton-Honea Path had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Powdersville Patriots 35-14. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 12 games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Marquise Henderson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 144 yards and a touchdown. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 144 rushing yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Belton-Honea Path's defense and their seven sacks. Justin Lathon was especially locked on to Powdersville's QB and sacked him five times. Another thorn in Powdersville's side was Tye Kelly, who picked up a sack, forced a fumble, and made seven total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.

The win was the ninth in a row for Belton-Honea Path, bringing their record for this year to 12-1. Those good results were due in large part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.4 points per game. As for Powdersville, with the defeat, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-4.

Belton-Honea Path will face off against Mountain View Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Belton-Honea Path's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last nine matchups. Powdersville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
