Recap: Overland Trailblazers vs. ThunderRidge Grizzlies
The Overland Trailblazers pushed their score all the way to 59 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of ThunderRidge. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Overland has scored all season.
Overland's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Siraaj Ali, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds, and TJ Manuel who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Manuel scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Isreal Littleton, who scored 11 points.
Leading ThunderRidge to victory were Charlie Spann and Tommy Wight. Spann dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds, while Wight scored 25 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Wight has scored at least 25% of ThunderRidge's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Crawford, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and seven assists.
Overland now has a losing record at 2-3. As for ThunderRidge, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Overland will be home for the holidays to greet Rock Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rock Canyon presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Overland in Colorado (Rock Canyon is ranked second, while Overland is ranked 71st). ThunderRidge will be home for the holidays to greet United at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
