Softball Recap: Jurupa Valley Comes Up Short

Jurupa Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Santa Rosa Academy Rangers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Jaguars of the 4-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Sophia Padilla made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Saytha Sanchez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

Padilla wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Jurupa Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Jurupa Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Santa Rosa Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jurupa Valley will challenge Rubidoux at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Santa Rosa Academy, they will face off against Tahquitz at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Rosa Academy knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Tahquitz likes a good challenge.
