Basketball Recap: The Burlington School Comes Up Short

The Burlington School suffered their closest defeat since February 3, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans by a score of 55-52. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.

When it comes to explaining why The Burlington School lost, don't look at Kaden Hammond. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards. The matchup was Hammond's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Drew Johnson was another key player, putting up 14 points.

The defeat snapped The Burlington School's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-8 record. As for Wesleyan Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Burlington School will take on Garner at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Garner will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something The Burlington School surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wesleyan Christian Academy, they will face off against Westchester Country Day at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Wesleyan Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine games.
