Baseball Game Preview: Bishop's Knights vs. Maranatha Christian Eagles

For the second straight game, Bishop will face off against Maranatha Christian. The Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Maranatha Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Wednesday, Bishop's didn't have quite enough to beat Maranatha Christian and fell 8-7.

For Maranatha Christian's part, Nolan Espinosa made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Espinosa was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Holton Heinrichs, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Evan Wied also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Maranatha Christian's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-15. As for Bishop's, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5-1.
