Basketball Recap: Christ the King's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Christ the King entered their match against Piedmont Community Charter on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Christ the King Crusaders received a blow as they fell 72-53 to the Piedmont Community Charter Patriots. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2021.

Piedmont Community Charter got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was TJ Biggers out in front who went 6 for 9 on his way to 15 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnathan Austin, who went 6 of 11 en route to 20 points.

Christ the King's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-8. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Christ the King and Piedmont Community Charter could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Christ the King (ranked 300th) will meet Pine Lake Prep (ranked 71st) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Piedmont Community Charter will face off against Carolina International at 7:30 p.m. on Friday down 209 places (317 vs. 108).
