Softball Game Preview: Tokay Tigers vs. St. Mary's Rams

Tokay is 2-8 against St. Mary since May of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Rams at 5:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Tokay's last matchup with Ripon could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Tuesday. The Tigers lost 9-2 to the Indians.

Sophia Galletti made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against East Union.

Ava Arucan looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, St. Mary's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mckenzie Abriol, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

St. Mary's record now sits at 3-0. As for Tokay, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Tokay might still be hurting after the 16-2 loss they got from St. Mary's in their previous meeting last Saturday. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
