Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Monroeville walked away with it. Everything went their way against the St. Paul Flyers on Saturday as they made off with a 10-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 17 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Veanna Helmstetter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Helmstetter was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Taryn Tyler was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Payton Weilnau was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Monroeville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Paul only managed seven hits.

Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for St. Paul, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season.
Monroeville will square off against Cuyahoga Heights at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Wolves will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. St. Paul does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
