East St. Louis took care of business in their home opener on Saturday (and then some). They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 34-7 victory over the Loyola Academy Ramblers. With the Flyers ahead 26-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

East St. Louis' defense made their presence known, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Elmo Gilliam Jr. and Keandre McClendon who racked up five sacks between them. McClendon also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up two sacks and making ten total tackles. Keylan Lagrant was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 12 total tackles.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, East St. Louis was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 422 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Loyola Academy only gained 108.

East St. Louis will host Newton at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Loyola Academy, they will face off against Glenbard West at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
