Baseball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-6 in the process. They lost 24-0 to the LaBrae Vikings. If the Leopards were looking for revenge after losing 7-0 to the Vikings when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for LaBrae, their win bumped their record up to 6-2. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

For LaBrae's part, Landon Brunstetter and Colton Hall made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Brunstetter tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hall tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At the plate, Brunstetter went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Hall went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, LaBrae let Austin Rowe and Owen Boone run wild. Rowe went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Boone got on base in four of his six plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave Boone a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Magoulick, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

While Liberty had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
