Preview: University Christian Christians vs. Oakleaf Knights
The University Christian Christians will square off against the Oakleaf Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as University Christian comes in on three and Oakleaf on six.
University Christian posted their biggest victory since November 28, 2023 on Saturday. Everything went their way against Matanzas as University Christian made off with a 70-50 victory.
University Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but KARRINGTON JOHNSON led the charge by scoring nine points. Another player making a difference was CALVIN CARTER, who scored eight points.
In what's become a running theme this season, Oakleaf gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They claimed a resounding 69-39 win over Clay at home. Given Oakleaf's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Clay is ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
University Christian's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Oakleaf, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
University Christian ended up a good deal behind Oakleaf in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, losing 49-34. Can University Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
