Baseball Recap: Cholla Extends Winning Streak to Five

Cholla hadn't done well against Marana recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Chargers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers, sneaking past 2-1. The two-run effort marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Raymond Molina spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit.

At the plate, Cholla's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Carlos Alvarez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The win was the fifth in a row for Cholla, bringing their record up to 9-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Marana, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Cholla will face off against Sahuarita at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Chargers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Marana, they will square off against Tucson High Magnet School at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Badgers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
