Football Recap: Notre Dame Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Nick Irving and Isaac Goodman

Notre Dame was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a hard 26-12 fall against the Fontana Steelers. The Titans lost against the Steelers in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 50-0 score last time.

Notre Dame's loss came despite strong showings from Isaac Goodman and Nick Irving. Goodman threw for 189 yards and two TDs, while Irving picked up 120 receiving yards and one score. Irving was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 60 yards.

Santiago Celedonio was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 111 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries. Those 111 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Notre Dame's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Fontana, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Notre Dame will square off against Arroyo Valley at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th. The Hawks' defense has only allowed 10.3 points per game this season, so the Titans' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Fontana, they will face off against Carter at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
