Meanwhile, Eastern Alamance never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Person with a sharp 10-0 win.
Not much got past Delani Straughan, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Person off the board. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Straughan.
On the hitting side, Mckenzie Blevins and Kayden Manning did most of the damage at the plate: Blevins went 1-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Manning scored a run while going 3-for-4. Eastern Alamance is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Western Alamance, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Western Alamance hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .449. However, it's not like Eastern Alamance struggles in that department as they've averaged .347. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Western Alamance suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Eastern Alamance when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
