Tallmadge has gone a perfect 7-0 against Cuyahoga Falls recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Blue Devils will venture away from home to square off against the Black Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Tallmadge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Tallmadge didn't have quite enough to beat Aurora and fell 6-5. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Greenmen recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
Leila Staszak made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played.
Cuyahoga Falls not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 13, 2024 (when they won 10-0). Everything went their way against Valley Forge as they made off with an 11-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Black Tigers in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won three in a row.
Ash Walker spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, Madi Davis was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most triples she has posted since back in March. MJ Mastrodonato was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Cuyahoga Falls was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Tallmadge's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Cuyahoga Falls, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Tallmadge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. However, it's not like Cuyahoga Falls struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Tallmadge took their victory against Cuyahoga Falls in their previous matchup on April 4th by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
