Cardinal Newman is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 50-40 win over Benicia. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Panthers are ranked 294th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rancho Cotate typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Lick-Wilmerding proved too difficult a challenge. They took down the Cougars 65-47.

Cardinal Newman's victory was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points over those games. As for Lick-Wilmerding, their win bumped their record up to 20-7.
