Basketball Game Preview: Central Wildcats vs. St. Martinville Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Central Wildcats face off against the St. Martinville Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday... The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Central has seven straight victories, St. Martinville has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Central was able to grind out a solid win over Frederick A. Douglass, taking the game 46-38.

Meanwhile, St. Martinville came up short against Breaux Bridge on Tuesday and fell 53-43. While St. Martinville didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Breaux Bridge 16-10 in the first quarter.

Central will need focus on slowing down Raytyrion Narcisse, one of several St. Martinville players who made an impact when they last played. He made all 6 shots he took racking up 13 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Narcisse has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Makharee Narcisse, who posted ten points along with eight boards and three steals.

Central's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. As for St. Martinville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Central was able to grind out a solid win over St. Martinville in their previous meeting back in January, winning 52-43. Does Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Martinville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
