Basketball Recap: Westlake Academy's Run of Three Straight Wins Now Over

If Westlake Academy was feeling good fresh off their 45-15 takedown of North Dallas Adventist Academy on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Westlake Academy Blacksmiths took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Takoma Academy Tigers on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Blacksmiths can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 913th in Texas, while the Tigers are ranked 91st in Maryland).

Despite the loss, Westlake Academy still got an impressive performance from Maya Sonday, who posted 32 points and eight rebounds. That was a full 72.7% of Westlake Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.
