Coffee hasn't had much luck against Lee County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Coffee Trojans will take on the Lee County Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated (Coffee has 21 wins dating back to last season, while Lee County has six).

Coffee's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Northside 41-0 on the road. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Eagles are ranked 137th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lee County's offense rose to the challenge against a Yellow Jackets defense that boasted an average of only 16.83 points allowed on Saturday. Lee County came out on top against Thomas County Central by a score of 35-23. The 35-point effort marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Weston Bryan was his usual excellent self, rushing for 156 yards and four touchdowns, while also throwing for 134 yards on eight of 13 attempts. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rushing yards. A healthy portion of that aerial production (101 yards to be exact) went to Ousmane Kromah.

Another reason for the win was Lee County's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Greg Batson with two. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made seven or more in the last six games he's played dating back to last season. Another thorn in Thomas County Central's side was Jacori White, who made five total tackles and defended a pass in addition to snagging three interceptions which he returned for a touchdown.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Lee County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 203 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 190 rushing yards in six consecutive games.

Coffee's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for Lee County, their record is now 6-0.

Things could have been worse for Coffee, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 35-17 loss to Lee County in their previous matchup back in November of 2019. Thankfully for Coffee, Caleb Mcdowell (who rushed for 120 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
