Baseball Recap: Macon County Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

Macon County got themselves on the board against Monroe County on Saturday, but Monroe County never followed suit. They came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 5-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

The result came thanks to Landon Connor's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hayes Polston was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

Macon County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Macon County's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Monroe County, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-3.

Coming up, Macon County will take on Greenbrier at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Monroe County, they will square off against Westmoreland at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
