Basketball Recap: Metea Valley Takes a Loss

Metea Valley fought the good fight in their overtime match against Oswego on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Oswego Panthers by a score of 50-48. If the Mustangs were looking for revenge after losing 54-40 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Metea Valley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Payton Giannone posted 12 points. That's the most points Giannone has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Annie Burk, who put up seven points.

Metea Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 18 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season. As for Oswego, they now have a winning record of 14-13.

Metea Valley has already played their next game (against Naperville North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Oswego has also has no score uploaded for their next matchup, this one against Bolingbrook.
