Volleyball Recap: Doherty Takes a Loss

Doherty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Discovery Canyon Thunder. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunder this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in March.

While Doherty was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Discovery Canyon's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-14, 25-20.

Ryan Kaiser paced Doherty's offense, picking up seven kills. Kaiser got some help from Elijah Morrison and his 11 assists. Finally, Chase Zaiger kept Doherty's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Doherty's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Discovery Canyon, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Doherty didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against The Vanguard School on the 15th. As for Discovery Canyon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Ponderosa on the 11th.
