Basketball Recap: Navajo Prep Sets Scoring Season-High Against Wingate

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Navajo Prep). They breezed by the Wingate Bears to the tune of 81-35 on Thursday. The victory was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Keira Casamero, who posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Freeanna Yazzie, who earned seven points.

Navajo Prep is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.1 points per game. As for Wingate, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Navajo Prep will venture away from home to challenge Crownpoint at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wingate, they will head out on the road to take on Tohatchi at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tohatchi will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Wingate surely won't give up without a fight.
