Softball Game Preview: South Hunterdon Eagles vs. Somerville Pioneers

South Hunterdon is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will head out on the road to face off against the Somerville Pioneers at 3:45 p.m.

Saturday just wasn't the day for South Hunterdon's offense. They lost 10-0 to Hun on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Raiders: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Somerville strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Belvidere with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Pioneers have won three games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Somerville pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for South Hunterdon, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Everything went South Hunterdon's way against Somerville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as South Hunterdon made off with a 12-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
