Softball Recap: Great Crossing Drops Highest Score of Season Against Frankfort

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Great Crossing). They blew past the Frankfort Panthers 16-4 on Monday. The result was nothing new for Great Crossing, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Kyleigh Harrison made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Harrison was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Brooke Smith was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Ava Collins also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

Great Crossing was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Great Crossing has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Frankfort, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

Coming up, Great Crossing will square off against Woodford County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Frankfort will be paying especially close attention to Great Crossing's contest: after Great Crossing face off against Anderson County, they'll take on Frankfort again at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
