Football Recap: Blake Beckwith Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Athens Drive + How To Watch

The Corinth Holders Pirates didn't have too much trouble with the Athens Drive Jaguars on Friday as they won 30-13. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Pirates' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Jaguars are ranked 273rd).

Corinth Holders' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Blake Beckwith led the charge by rushing for 131 yards and one touchdown. Beckwith has become a key player for the Pirates: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-3 otherwise. Another passer making a difference was David Jarman, who threw for 164 yards and a pair of TDs.

Corinth Holders now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Athens Drive, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Corinth Holders will be playing at home against Leesville Road at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pride's defense has only allowed 11.4 points per game this season, so the Pirates' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Athens Drive, they will face off against Rolesville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
