Bloomington North takes loss despite strong efforts from Luke Lindeman and Connor O'guinn

Recap: Bloomington North Cougars vs. Southport Cardinals

The Bloomington North Cougars pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-57 to Southport. Bloomington North has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Connor O'guinn and Luke Lindeman certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. O'guinn scored 26 points, while Lindeman dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Lindeman scored a full 29.8% of Bloomington North's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Nehemiah Dangerfield, who scored two points along with seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Bloomington North were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Leading Southport to victory were Donovan Brewer and Michael Johnson. Brewer scored 13 points, while Johnson scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. Jack Turner was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with nine rebounds.

Bloomington North has fallen quite a ways from their 19-6 record last season and are now at 1-4. As for Southport, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bloomington North won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Franklin Community at 7:30 p.m. on December 16th. Franklin Community is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games. Southport will be home for the holidays to greet Avon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Avon presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Southport in Indiana (Avon is ranked 83rd, while Southport is ranked 260th).
