It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Manitowoc Lincoln ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 16-14 victory over the Sheboygan North Golden Raiders. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Ships have posted since April 17th.

Manitowoc Lincoln got a massive performance out of Jordin Popp, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Anya Hall also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Manitowoc Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.4.

The victory made it two in a row for Manitowoc Lincoln and bumps their season record up to 7-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Sheboygan North, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Manitowoc Lincoln wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-1 loss against Pulaski on the 5th. As for Sheboygan North, they have also already played their next contest, a 7-2 victory against Howards Grove on the 2nd.
