Preview: Avon Park Red Devils vs. Mulberry Panthers
Avon Park has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Mulberry Panthers at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Avon Park was the victim of a rough 76-50 loss at the hands of the Tornadoes. While losing is never fun, Avon Park can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 548th, while the Tornadoes are ranked 267th).
Despite the loss, Avon Park had strong showings from Jose Silva, who scored 13 points, and Karl Pierre-Louis, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jermaine Myers, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Mulberry had to suffer through a rough 78-42 loss at the hands of the Yellow Jackets. Mulberry has not had much luck with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Avon Park's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Mulberry, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
Avon Park and the Panthers were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in November of 2023, but the Red Devils came up empty-handed after a 60-59 defeat. Can Avon Park avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
