Basketball Game Preview: West Potomac Wolverines vs. Fairfax Lions

The West Potomac Wolverines will take on the Fairfax Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. West Potomac knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Fairfax likes a good challenge.

West Potomac got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They walked away with a 72-61 win over Alexandria City on Friday.

Meanwhile, Fairfax entered their game against Robinson on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Fairfax came up short against Robinson, falling 51-28. The contest marked the Lions' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

West Potomac will have to contain Cam Yingling as he made an impact in Fairfax's last game. He posted eight points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aidan Mullen, who had four points.

West Potomac's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7. As for Fairfax, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-4.

West Potomac skirted past Fairfax 57-55 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will West Potomac repeat their success, or does Fairfax have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
