Basketball Recap: St. Thomas Episcopal Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Francis Episcopal, St. Thomas Episcopal was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 72-71 win over the Northland Christian Cougars. This was a revenge game for the Saints: when they faced off against the Cougars on January 10th, they had to take a 82-65 defeat.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sion Cleveland, who went 9 of 17 en route to 19 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Cleveland has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kameron McKnight, who posted 20 points and seven boards.

St. Thomas Episcopal has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Northland Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 21-5.

St. Thomas Episcopal will host First Baptist Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Thomas Episcopal is facing First Baptist Christian at the right time seeing as First Baptist Christian is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Northland Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Rosehill Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Northland Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 17 contests.
