Volleyball Recap: Jose Zapien Gomez Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Cardinal Newman

Analy won the last time they faced Cardinal Newman and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Cardinals.

The match came down to the wire multiple times:two sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 30-28, 33-31.

Analy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jose Zapien Gomez led the charge by getting 17 digs. That's the most digs Zapien Gomez has posted since back in March of 2024. Jorge Salgado Vega was another key player, getting 14 digs and two assists.

Analy pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Cardinal Newman, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Analy is set to face off against their familiar foe American Canyon at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Cardinal Newman will challenge rival Windsor at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
