Softball Recap: Dale County Drops Season-High Score on Houston County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dale County). They never let the Houston County Lions get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory on Thursday. While the Warriors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 17-24), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Madyson McLain and Shayleigh Whitman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, McLain tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Whitman pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, McLain posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, McLain scored three runs while going 1-for-2, while Whitman went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run was Whitman's first of the season.

In other batting news, Dale County let Bre Wilkerson and Leah Grace Snellgrove run wild. Wilkerson scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2, while Snellgrove scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, Wilkerson posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. AK Snellgrove was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Dale County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Dale County's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3.

Dale County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 8-1 victory against New Brockton on the 7th. As for Houston County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 18-0 defeat against Long on the 10th.
