Baseball Recap: River Mill Wins Going Away Against Triangle Math & Science

River Mill won the last time they faced Triangle Math & Science and things went their way on Friday too. The River Mill Jaguars put the hurt on the Triangle Math & Science Tigers with a sharp 14-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.

Nathan Hamilton spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, James Penrod was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Peyton Tubbs was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

River Mill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Triangle Math & Science only posted an OBP of .333.

River Mill's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Triangle Math & Science, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, River Mill will venture away from home to challenge Clover Garden School at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Clover Garden School's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. Triangle Math & Science will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Eno River Academy at 5:00 p.m. on March 17th. Triangle Math & Science has given up an average of 11.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
