Volleyball Game Preview: Wheeling Wildcats vs. Vernon Hills Cougars

The Wheeling Wildcats will take on the Vernon Hills Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Wheeling is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Buffalo Grove just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Bison by a score of 2-1. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bison 25-18 in the first set.

Wheeling started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-17, 25-18.

Meanwhile, Vernon Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Niles West. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolves 25-20 in the first set.

Vernon Hills started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-21, 25-16.

Wheeling's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Vernon Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 5-15.
